Historic Tools of North Castle

Cookie Press

This tool at Smith’s Tavern is a cookie press.  It is composed up of a tin cylinder and a wooden plunger with a doorknob-like handle.  Supposedly there are three different discs inside the cylinder to make various cookie styles (unconfirmed).  There is no manufacturer’s mark on this tool.

The cookie dough would be inserted into the cylinder after the plunger was removed.  A cookie disc would be selected. The press would be used to push the dough through the disc onto a baking sheet.
