Cast Iron Little Star Apple Peeler/Parer/Corer

This device at Smith’s Tavern is an apple parer or peeler that is stamped “Little Star Patented June 9. 85”.  The Little Star was at first manufactured by Hudson Paper Co. It is a lathe type parer that was attached to a work surface via its screw clamp.  The cast-iron device has many parts: its frame, crank handle, spiral-threaded shaft with a fork end, latch, push-off, paring arm and slicing arm/corer.
