Canister for Glass Bottles used for Condiments/Medicine

This item at Smith’s Tavern is a canister that stored glass bottles in a removable carrier.  The canister is metal and has four decorative feet and decorative handles on two sides; the canister has two hinged lids that cover the carrier.  The carrier has a long handle that protrudes from the canister when in place and the lids are closed; the carrier has circular slots for up to four glass bottles.  Such bottles supposedly held condiments or medicines.

 

Our research has also been unable to discover any more about this item.  If anyone does know more, please email the Historical Society with this much-needed information.
