Food Warmer

This tool at Smith’s Tavern appears to be made of pewter, is rectangular in shape with a hinged latticed lid with front and back holes for ventilation.  Supposedly, food was stored inside to be kept warm.  

 

Our research has been unable to discover any more about this tool.  If anyone does know more, please email the Historical Society with this much needed information.
