Historic Tools of North Castle

Serrated Blade Knife

This tool at Smith’s Tavern is a knife with a long serrated blade with a sharp pointed end.  The top of the blade does not appear to have ever been sharpened. It has a unique sword-like wooden handle. Serrated blade knives have a wavy, scalloped or saw-like blade.  Serrated blades are better suited for tasks that require aggressive 'sawing' motions.  The actual use of this tool is unknown.
