This tool at Smith’s Tavern has been labeled as a coffee pot; however, research has determined that it most likely was a pitcher. It has a small base and a larger top portion of the vessel; its handle curves from the opening to the middle of the pot. The opening is the size of the base and there is a wide spout.
If anyone does know more about this particular vessel, please email the Historical Society with this much needed information.
